18.07.2008 – Horror Party – All vampires, werewolves and other monsters are welcome.
25.07.2008 – Gothic Party – Black style and right make-up, that’s it.

ArcelorMittal in Second Life

The biggest global steel producer, Netherlands ArcelorMittal, yesterday (17.07.2008, authors note) made its first virtual general meeting. Through the Internet game Second Life, the company tried to call young shareholders in age from 20 to 40 years.

In reality, the general meeting held in Luxembourg. In the virtual world, however, shareholders from around the world have the opportunity to talk directly with the head of the company Lakšmí Mittal.

It was only necessary to fee-register the game and create a so-called avatar, a figure through which individual shareholders communicate with the surroundings.

"I welcome the opportunity to speak to shareholders in this form on the prospects of our company," said head of the steel company Mittal Lakšmí. "The combination of physical and virtual meeting proves that we depend on the individual shareholders," he added.

Unlike traditional meeting to come out of this one-third cheaper, because in the virtual world do not need cocktails or biscuits. Participants in the debate to visit the web chat room, auditorium or sit in a cafe in the open. They could ask right now in three languages - English, French and Spanish.

Everybody could enter into the debate. "However, if the figure of participant, for example, takes off your dress to nudity or it is vulgar, it will be fired from the meeting," said the Wall Street Journal author of the idea of on-line meeting Julien Onillon.

If this action proves successful, ArcelorMittal activities "outside reality" will be extended and its shares will sell here. Second Life has its own currency, convertible for U.S. dollars, and so there can also earn.

The game plays now over 14 million people.

There is also in SL the virtual shop of the Nike. For domestic companies (Czech Republic, author’s note) in the online world operates banking house of J&T, the Czech Radio and Staropramen brewery.

Mysterious Underground

"Mysterious recesses, gloom somewhere in a corner, on the wall, a dark smudge that was once bloodily red, the sounds of dripping water, the sounds of creaking pipes or squeaking rats.

Remembrance of world where everything was easy and everything was possible. Lost and forgotten civilization, the victim of its own destruction.

I am roaming and still I am not finding. Indeed, even I do not know how I got here. Area around extending and shrinking again, fog is deepened and disappeared. Paintings are dancing before my eyes as the glow-worms in the woods. I am cowering by the wall in the twilight and I am sensing either space nor time.

Perhaps the last quiver, flash of light in the corner of my eye. Force I will try to rise again and i am going to the light. Staircase is emerging from the mist, a high degree of rising upwards. Finally exempt!"


I do not know whether it might be so, but the visit of the club inspired me to this crazy text. So I would like you all to pass through underground and showed a few points and also club.

The club Xparadise was moved in other sim, but it is still working. Although the main visitors are from the Czech and Slovak Republic, the others are also welcome.

Villa Tugendhat

Villa Tugendhat is the most famous villa in city Brno in Czech Republic. It is a unique piece of work of German architect Ludwig Miese van der Rohe. He designed this building for Greta and Fritz Tugendhat in 1928. The construction begun in 1929 and Tugendhats moved in villa in December 1930.

Villa belong to the basic pieces of world modern architecture – functionalism. First of all, the villa is well known for its glassed-in living space with winter garden. The house was revolutionary in its time for several reasons:

· Uninterrupted habitable space
· Windows main residential area could be completely run by the interior floor and coalesce with nature in the garden was very impressive
· Building consists of steel skeleton of floors and ceilings are not walls, but only steel columns profile X, in exposed locations covered chrome metal screens.

The interior of the building was also equipped with an elegant and sensitively designed furniture from Mies van der Rohe. He used part of the furniture he designed for the German pavilion at the exhibition in Barcelona.
